Tools for Converting Keynote to PowerPoint

Chances are you’ve experienced this scenario – you were sent a Keynote presentation, which you need to review and pull content from, but you are operating on a PC. You contemplate your frustration for a solid 5 minutes, then either give up or ping the person next to you that has a Mac.

As an agency who has a mix of PC and Mac users themselves, but also work with brands, partners and platforms that have the same, we’ve tested a couple tools to help transition the files from one program to the other.

The first option is to use Apple’s iCloud. Quick and easy steps for this process:

Log into iCloud with an Apple ID

Once you are in, locate the Keynote icon

From there you can click a drop-down menu and upload the presentation

Once uploaded, download a copy of the presentation from the toolbox and select PowerPoint from the options

We’ve noticed success in this route with zipped folders, but not as much with individual files.

For non-zipped Keynote files, you can use CloudConvert – https://cloudconvert.com/extract-zipThis handy sites allows you to upload files and convert them to a different program. Through some tests, unzipped files work best here and result with minimal changes to the formatting.

With both programs, you can also reverse the process and switch the presentation back to a Keynote if needed.

As most of us are aware, formatting can sometimes get altered between these conversions, alongside sharing PowerPoints between Mac to PC’s, so keep that in mind when creating/sharing presentations. Hopefully these tools will alleviate a little frustration in your Mac vs PC life.
