The New Mac OSX Yosemite Unveiled at WWDC14

Today in San Francisco, Apple kicked off WWDC14 with one hell of a bang.  Mac users everywhere are going upgrade their from the Mavericks OS to the new OSX Yosemite at record speeds.  Essentially iOS7 for the computer, Apple users are now privy to a single and seamless user experience across all of their devices.  Not only much prettier, but it is also chock full of new features and updates to your Mac OSX. Oh yeah… it’s FREEEEEE!

Here are several new updates that you all might be interested in:

New Design:

Tool Bar and Dock mimic translucent feel of iOS7

Consistent typography across the whole UI

Dark Mode to change color of tool bars and such to help create a better contrast for those with bright backgrounds.

New icons in the Dock (See below)

 Spotlight:

Search functionality in OSX just got a lot sexier.  The search bar now appears in the cent erof your screen. (See example below)

Mail:

MarkUp- electronic signatures and sketching to be added 

MailDrop: Instead of messaging bouncing off of servers, the attachment can be sent encrypted via iCloud and will allow for the other users to receive a 5gig link to view files that were previously too large for mail servers.

Safari:

Favorites bar now a part of the Search Bar (See below)

Share buttons allow for faster RSS feed integration and social network sharing

Tab view – bird eye view of all live tabs

More efficient than ever, 2 hours longer battery life at 1080p video from Netflix than other browsers

Airdrop:

Works between iOS and Macs

Handoff – will be able to use proximity based work since your devices are able to detect each other.  so projects can move with ease between devices.

iCloud Drive:

Google Drive from Apple

Syncs across all Macs and iOS devices

Works on WINDOWS (OMG)

There are several other updates that could raise some eyebrows, but these are the ones that we felt were going to make the biggest impact.  OSX Yosemite is going to be great and we will definitely be welcome to beta testing opportunities.  Oh yeah, we forgot to tell you that the beta is public.  Another reason why Apple never ceases to amaze.
